The video that started it

In October 2026, Nashville-based songwriter Jake Whipple, who posts on TikTok as @theburnerfromhe11, made a 19-second clip that looked like a Tiny Desk concert sung by Kirby Smart, Kalen DeBoer, Steve Sarkisian, Marcus Freeman and Curt Cignetti, five college football coaches whose teams had lost that weekend. According to Sport & State, it passed 2 million views on TikTok and spread quickly on X; The Athletic covered it on October 23.

He made it from a 30-second clip of Charlie Wilson's 2023 Tiny Desk performance of "Outstanding", using the AI video tool Higgsfield to replace the singers with the coaches. He told Sport & State the casting "was probably the nail in the coffin".

What Tiny Desk is

Tiny Desk Concerts is NPR Music's series of small, stripped-down live sets, filmed behind a desk in NPR's offices in Washington, D.C. It began in 2008 with folk singer Laura Gibson, after NPR's Bob Boilen and Stephen Thompson left a loud South by Southwest show wishing they could actually hear the music. By August 2024 the series had passed 1,100 concerts.

The look is what makes the format instantly recognisable: a cluttered desk, packed bookshelves, toys and records everywhere, and the band squeezed into a corner of an office.

Why everyone wants their own

The coaches video works because of the contrast: people you never expect to see singing, in a setting everyone recognises. The obvious next step is putting yourself, your friends, your group chat or your favourite team in that setting.

How this site is different

The viral clips start from real concert footage and swap in real people's faces. This site does neither. You upload a photo of yourself (or of people who agreed to it), and the whole desk concert is generated around it: the office, the bookshelves, the band and an original song. No NPR footage or existing recordings are used, and you cannot put celebrities or public figures in it.
